myLast.fm Plug-In

Well as you may or may not know, I've been a loving member of the Last.fm community since 2004. I've added the Scrobbler plug-in to Shock 3 and now I'm adding it to AIM 6.x. This new plug-in doesn't add songs to your profile like Shock's plug-in does. It reads them instead, reads them and inserts them into your AIM User Profile wherever %lastfm% is positioned.

A brief example of what I'm talking about is:

Hello,

My name is Allen and i'm Listening to %lastfm%

When a user views your profile it will show up as:

Hello,

My name is Allen and i'm Listening to Tool - Jambi

Get it? Good!

This plug-in will SOON be released under the MIT OpenSource license. The reason why it cannot be released now, is because AIM is being slow about giving me an Unlimited user key. Which in this case would be needed very strongly.

Oh, by the way, the plug-in will be listed on Last.fm!

Shock 3 will be updated soon, don't worry ;) Give it another month. (hah)

Upcoming Shock 3 update

I am going to be adding a lot of help features, for theme creation and other tasks. This will be web-based, but also accessable within shock.

It will also include bugs fixes, a lot of new skins by spin and some new features.

The Sopranos Finale

Well the saga that was The Soprano's came to an end tonight. In short New Jersey and New York had a sit down (without Phil) and decided that the feud had gone to far and that New York would back down. The FBI Agent that Tony had been talking to about the Terrorists that Christopher was dealing with, tipped them off that Phil was in a city using a pay phone at some gas station.

Tony and his family moved back into their house. The crew went back to their usual spots at the Bing. Sil is still in the hospital. Tony's crew was still looking for Phil in the town. Checking each gas station that had a pay phone. They finally narrowed it down and killed him. After he got shot in the face and then the heart, his head got ran over by an SUV, that he was riding in.

Towards the end of the show, it shows Tony and his family sitting at a resturant eating onion rings with a strange looking italian guy walking to the bathroom. Meadow walks in the door and then the screen goes blank for about 5 seconds. Then the credits scroll.

I personally thought it was pretty shitty how it ended. They could have easily created another season after this. With Tony taking over New York or something similar. I really had thought that Anthony was going to get in the mob. But I was kind of disappointed that he's doing some Movie career with Carmine.

Anyhow, this is just a kind of rant review. I may touch it up later, just wanted to put down what I had coming to my mind after watching it.

Fresh

Shock 3 is being pumped with fresh features that has never been on any program of it's kind before. These new features are going to blow the other competetion out of the way (like there is any, heh). The update is coming very soon. It is about 60% completed as of today. I plan on doing much work in the coming days. It's really hard to find time to work on my project because I work 12 hours a day at my other job. I do promise an update within 2 weeks from now.

The GetShock.NET website is going to be turned into a blogger soon. This will provide a more immediate source of information and allow me to update faster.

Shock will also be featuring two brand-new Skins that will accompany the default skin. I may also change the icon's throughout the program with this set I found earlier this week. It will give it a more uniform clean look. Shock may not be a million dollar piece of software but I want it to look, feel and run like one.

Road Runner upgrade!

It seems that Road Runner has upgraded their upload speed to 512 Kb (512 / 8 = 64 kB/s) as apposed to 384 Kb (384 / 8 = 48 kB/s). To notice a change you will have to restart your cable modem. If you do not no how to restart your modem follow these steps:
  • Disconnect your COAX Cable from Modem (cable line)
  • Unplug your cable modem from the power outlet
  • Wait about 1 minute
  • Reconnect your COAX Cable to your modem (cable line)
  • Plug your power cord back in
  • Wait for your modem to have all green lights (including 'Online')
If any of you guys notice this change in your area aswell, let us know.

DVD Collection

I've started to build a DVD collection. I'm not really a picky guy when it comes to movies, but I love thriller and war type movies the most. I aim to make this one of the biggest and best DVD collections ever.

You may view my collection at any time by looking on the right-hand side of my blog or by visiting my IMDb Profile.

If you have a movie you think I should add please comment below.

What's up?

I'm currently working on an update for Shock 3 you can look for a newly coded playlist that's faster and less processor intensive. You can also look for many minor bug fixes with AOL Plug-In, Last.fm Plug-In (Formerly Scrobbler), as well as a brand new feature named Shock Prompt. You can enter any command that is supported by the AOL Plug-In into this dialog, and you will get the results the same as if you were to of typed it into a chat room on AOL.

Remember if you have any ideas for Shock, please comment or email @ allen@p-soft.org

I've been seriously working way too many hours. I really should slow down, it's kind of hard to do though. I look at as my company is holding a bucket upside down with money pouring out of it and the only way to get it is to be there. I love my job though. I think I'll be there for awhile now. We broke a record last month with $5.15 Million in sales in our building alone. The old record was only $5.12 Million, so we barely beat it.

But anyhow, Alyssa and I are about to go out and do some shit. I'll keep you people posted on how things are coming.

Zoom Zoom

I bought a new car 3 days ago. It is a Mazda 6 5-door with leather seats, heated seats, tint, power windows and most important of all a sports shifter, so it is an manual and an automatic! It's used and has 26,000 miles on it. So it's just like new. The blue book value is 16,950 and I paid 17,500. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. Here are a few pictures I took of it.

Shock 3 needs translators!

I need people who are fluent in English and are also fluent in Spanish, Dutch, German, Finnish, French and whatever other language you can speak. The reason behind is that I'm going to make Shock 3 localizable so people feel more comfortable using it that don't speak english as their first language. If you are interested in helping me out, please, email me @ allen@p-soft.org.

Thanks guys,

Finally settled in!

I moved to Euless on the 1st. Everything relating to moving went very smooth. The only big problem we had was getting our huge couch in the door. We had to take the four legs off and even then it barely fit. Then came the 5th of January.

First, the cable goes out. I call up Time Warner and explain what's going on. I told the lady that I just transfered my account over to another address and I don't see why our cable is off. She asks me 100 questions that are not even remotely close to the problem I'm having. Finally she says, "Oh, it seems the technician didn't sign off on your paperwork when he came out on the 2nd. So I'm going to have to transfer your box numbers over from your previous address and it should solve the problem. Can I put you on hold for a minute?" I said, "Sure that's fine". So nearly 10 minutes later the lady gets back on the phone and says, "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do to help your situation". I said, "What happen'd to the transferring of the numbers and all that?", "I'm sorry there is just nothing I can do". So Me being Me I ask for a supervisor. The lady responded immediately, "All our supervisors are busy at the moment". I asked her, "How do you know if they're busy or not? I just asked you one second ago". She says, "Well they are not on the floor so that means they're busy. If you would like I can have one call you back". I agree and leave my number with her. I never received a call.

Then there is today. Around 3 PM my brother says "Don't let the dogs outside the Electric man is in the backyard. Not even 5 seconds later all the power in the house just goes off completely. I walk outside to ask that dude what's going on, and he says, "The power was to be disconnected today because the people previously before you transferred their account to their new address." I tell him that we've done the same thing and he's tells me to call TXU and report the problem to them. So I do and I had to go through this long strenuous process took about 45 minutes for them to get everything straight. The problem that whoever took the information down wasn't listening and wrote the wrong address down for mine. So our electric was on at some house in Waxahachie. They didn't have our power on till about 9 PM.

The only good thing that happened today was that cable man came and set all our boxes up, drilled a new outlet and sat around and bs'd with us for awhile.

So now everything is back to normal, cable and power are up and running smoothly. Just to let you know Time Warner Cable has some shitty customer service.
